REV'IT Women's Motorcycle Gear 2012

In October 2011, I was lucky enough to visit REVIT's headquarters to see all the new 2012 collection. This year's collection has been streamlined a bit to offer better styling, form and function than ever before.

I was able to try on all the jackets and just a couple of the pants. Unfortunately I didn't get photos of myself in them but  I'm planning on getting more photos as soon as I can.  I'm excited to share these with you now and a few impressions of my favorite pieces.

The photos above are comprised of the newest updates from their 2012 collection which up until January 1st were sworn to secrecy. The other items that haven't changed and have carried over from 2011 are the Tornado jacket and pants, CR leather and textile jacket, Raven jacket and pants, Ventura jacket and pants, and Legacy GTX jacket and pants.  You may see a few pieces on sale around the interwebs, and in your dealerships as a few older items (Ignition 1 jacket, Gear 1 pants, Allure jacket, Marryl pants, Union jacket, Zip pants, Siren jacket) are discontinued.

The Ignition 2 jacket.  To see the previous version, click here. They've updated the styling and eliminated the previous black/silver combination (these same color changes appear in the mens line as well).  It's now offered in a black/anthracite (above left). It's very subtle and appears more like a dark brown/grey in color. The middle photo (men's jacket shown since I don't have a pic of the back of the women's) shows the back view; they've added some weird leather accents below the shoulders, which I'm not too crazy about.

For me, what I really like in particular is that the width from armpit to armpit is a little bit wider and there seems to be a little more room across the shoulders. They've also eliminated the ~2 inch band of leather along the waist line. This may be less desirable for those of you with really long torsos. It fit me much better than the previous version since I have a short torso.

The Gear 2 pants.  These have a new, improved fit from the previous version. The first version had a wider fit through the thighs to the knee and it made me feel more like I was wearing a pair of men's pants (straight waist, wider legs). With the discontinuation of the Marryl pant (all leather, no mesh), they've taken that fit and incorporated into these. There's still substantial leather down the side of each leg and above and below knees and abrasion resistant mesh panels along the tops of the thighs and shins. These don't fit like skinny jeans, but more like a bootleg cut without the excessive flair at the bottom. As with most REV'IT pants, these are available in standard, short and long lengths.  Although I'm still sad to see the Marryls go, I'm happy to see the Gears updated.

The other update that I love is the Indigo (formerly the Siren). The Siren was offered in red and 3 different black options with various color accents along the arms.  The most notable update is the addition of high viz yellow and white to the color palette.  I particularly like the turqoise accents along the insulated liner in the front along the zipper in the white version.  As always, black is also available with 3 different color accents on the arms. (see the full photo gallery above).   I think it's hard to find any women's jackets in high viz yellow, let alone one that fits like the Indigo.

The fit hasn't changed much, and is still an excellent option for those of you looking for a 3/4 length, year round jacket with a very flattering fit and style.  What I really love about the Indigo and its predecessor the Siren is the ability of this jacket to flatter any body type.

I hope to get some of these jackets to review in the upcoming months, so stay tuned.
